My Favorite Picture

This week’s picture assignment, as I mentioned previously, was a little difficult for me because I like pictures with a meaning.  I started taking some pictures of my church and they turned out better than expected.  It was a clear, cold day and the sky was amazingly blue with large white clouds.  I liked all of the pictures because of their distinctive contrast in colors but this one has to be my favorite because it took me back to my childhood.  When I was little I had a vivid imagination and was an adiment observer.  My favorite thing to do was to lay on the ground and stare at the clouds.  It was amazing how many things I thought I saw.  I love the blue sky behind the white puffy clouds and the cross at the top of the steeple in the middle.  It almost looks like it is going into the clouds.  It was very simple but beautiful just the same.  I guess I noticed that meaning can be found all around us if we just take the time to stop and look.

Flickr

Well, I finally got my first pictures uploaded to Flickr and I am actually somewhat pleased. I found Dr. Lowell and a few of my classmates and added them as contacts. I am not really sure if we are supposed to be looking at each others pictures but if we are, we need to be able to add each other so that me something to do next (I am listed under shellaep). I like the fact that you can share pictures with friends and family as well as order prints from flickr but there are several other web applications that allow you to do the same thing. I commonly use shutterfly to share photos with my family and I like the way it lets me set up a weekly digest to share. I have all my family added as members so when I add something new, they receive a link via email.

I looked at some wonderful pictures that were posted on flickr and a few of the videos but there is still much more to learn. The video application on flickr is listed for pro only but it does not appear to be that difficult. That is the next avenue to explore.

Podcasts

I have used iTunes for quite some time to get my favorite podcasts. I always have something new to listen to on my daily commute and occasionally while I am working. Since I very rarely have time to turn on the television or read the newspaper, I always keep up to date with what is going on in the world thanks to my Anderson Cooper podcasts. I also enjoy listening to the inspirational messages from Joel Osteen which helps deliver my daily uplift. Some of the other podcasts that I keep on my iPod include Discovery News and the New York Times Book Review. Two of my newest, and quickly becoming some of my favorites are Hirshhorn Museum & Sculptures and The National Gallery Podcast (London). As you can probably see, I prefer the practical and educational versus pure entertainment but that is just my personality. I love the simple fact that I can listen to or watch what I want, when I want rather than being stuck with what my husband and kids are watching or listening to. Hello freedom!
